French in the Classroom

Year 1 - Je peux (I Can) 

In this unit the children have been learning to recognise some common French verbs/activities. They have used these verbs to convey meaning in English by matching them to their appropriate picture, as well as saying the phrases in French. 

Year 2 - Les Instruments ( Musical Instruments)

 In this unit the children have been naming  and recognising up to 10 instruments in French. They have attempted to spell some of these  in French, as well as learning how to say I play an instrument in French.

Year 3 -  Les Instruments (Musical Instruments)

 In this unit the children have been learning about musical instruments. They have attempted to say and spell some of these nouns with their correct definite article/determiner in French as well as learning how to say I play an instrument in French.

Year 4 - L’ancienne Histoire de la Grande Bretagne( Ancient Britain)

In this unit the children learn about the six key periods of ancient Britain, introduced in chronological order and where the people lived and what their hunting tool was. They  use the French for ‘I am’ (je suis), ‘I have’ (j’ai) and ‘I live’ (j’habite).

 

Year5 - Je Me Presente ( Presenting Myself)

 In this unit the children enjoyed learning  how to count to 20 in French, how to ask somebody how they are feeling and give an appropriate response back. They also practised  asking somebody their age, name, where they live and reply.

Year 6 - As tu un Animal ? (Do you have a pet?)

 In this unit the children have been learning how to ask somebody if they have a pet and give an answer back and to say in French what pet we have/do not have and give our pet’s name. The children have started to use the simple connectives et (and) and mais (but) to make more complex and interesting sentences.
