St Mary's Catholic Primary School

Learning to live out our calling with compassion and love.

Welcome to St Mary's Catholic Primary School

Welcome to St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, part of Christ the King Catholic Collegiate. On behalf of the Governors, staff, parish, children and our wider school community, thank you to those of you who have chosen St Mary’s for your child's first steps in education and to those of you who are considering choosing our school for your child.

At St Mary's, we cater for children from the age of 3 to 11, Catholic and Non-Catholic. The vast majority of our children move on to St John Fisher Catholic Collegiate, the secondary school within our Multi Academy Company (family of schools). We work closely with St John Fisher to ease the transition from primary to secondary education for our learners.

We are very proud of the strong support which we receive from our parish priest, Fr Paul, and assistant priest Fr Marco. Along with all teaching staff, children are very well supported in deepening their understanding of the gospel values, which lie at the heart of everything we do and is included in our school mission statement, 'Learning to Live Out Our Calling with Compassion and Love.' Our children are expected to live out their faith and are well equipped to do so as our Catholic Values permeate throughout the life of our school. As an inclusive school, we have high expectations of all children. We instill our pupils with a sense of personal and collective responsibility and we place a great emphasis on the personal, social, spiritual and health education of our pupils.

Our children experience a carefully designed, broad and balanced curriculum and we have ensured that our school has the facilities and resources to provide our children with opportunities to discover their talents and interests. We have a strong tradition in music and sports and we take great delight in developing our children's achievements in these areas. Our teaching staff view their work as a vocation and actively seek to motivate and inspire our children to hold a life long love of learning.

Our school works to enable everyone to become a responsible, happy and compassionate citizen in order to prepare them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of life in our rapidly changing society. We believe that to achieve this for our children, it is crucial for parents, carers and the school to work together in partnership. There are many formal and informal opportunities throughout the school year to develop this relationship. We have a committed pastoral team who are knowledgeable and resourceful in providing support for all families within school and beyond the school gates.

We look forward to continuing to work with you to achieve your child's full potential. If you have not yet visited our school and would like to come and meet us, please contact the school office to arrange a visit. We look forward to welcoming you to our school.
