COVID-19 UPDATE School Closure

Dear Parents /Carers,

Thank you for your support during the last few very difficult days, we have received some very understanding emails and phone calls and even biscuits! Thank you for your generosity and thoughtfulness. Your children have been incredibly sensible and well behaved (as usual!) and all of the staff have shown amazing levels of resilience and kindness of spirit. As you are aware our school will close today for the vast majority of pupils as advised by the government in order to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus. The most recent scientific advice has meant that the government now want all children to stay at home.

From Monday 23rd March the school will act as a child care facility for the children who are considered vulnerable and those who are the children of Key/Critical Sector workers. The government asks that if some of these workers are able to ensure that their child can be safely cared for at home then they should make such arrangements.

We have contacted the parents of vulnerable children and those who are Key/Critical Sector workers and have requested use of the school as a child care provider from Monday 23rd of March. For these children the school will operate at the usual times from 8:45am until 3:15am, the Care Club will also operate at its usual times. Lunch will be provided for the children. For the children who are remaining at home we are currently working with Chartwell Caterers to ensure that the children who are in receipt of free school meals are provided with a meal or a voucher. We will keep you updated on how this will be achieved as soon as Chartwells share their logistical plan with us.

All school work has and will continue to be uploaded onto our school website, please use the exercise book provided for your child/children to carry out their work. Any updates from the government regarding the virus and the reopening of the school will be posted on the school website, Instagram, Facebook and text. Please ensure that you regularly check in on these sites.

We urge you to follow the government guidance for social distancing (this is on the school website) and that government guidance for washing hands in order to limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

We thank you in anticipation for your support and co-operation over the next few challenging weeks. You are all in our thoughts and prayers, please stay safe and we look forward to the re-opening of our school in not too distant future.

God Bless,

Mrs Mellor

Headteacher
