Learning to live out our calling with compassion and love.
Spellings will be sent home each Friday and they will will be stuck inside your child's homework book. We expect the children to have a go at writing some of the spellings in a sentence. Additionally, a Mathematics homework will be included to consolidate the learning that has taken place in school that week. This also gives parents the opportunity to be informed of the types of activities and level of challenge that the children experience each day in school. The Maths homework will be found on www.mymaths.co.uk Your child's username and password can all be found in their reading diary.
Homework should be returned to school by the following Thursday and the children will be tested on their spellings each Friday, so they have a week to learn and practice their spellings at home.
It is our expectation that all children will read every evening, with an adult, for 10-15 minutes. This should include some time to discuss the book with your child and ask questions such as:
Other questions can be found on the book mark attached to the children's reading diaries.
We are encouraging the children to read for pleasure and enjoy a shared experience.
In the classrooms we have a reading competition to find out who reads the most each week. Each day the children move their rocket and children that have read every night receive a prize!
